Retreats
Do you feel dissatisfied with your relationship with God? Or with others? Do you need some time to get your priorities right? Do you want some peace and quiet in which to look at your life and what it may lack?
These might be some of the reasons why a Retreat at St Joseph's could help you.
A retreat is a time to withdraw a little from the hustle and bustle of daily life to look at the way that your life is going, especially with regard to your relationship with God, your "spiritual life". St Joseph's, on the edge of the New Forest, with its own quiet grounds, and plenty of walking in the neighbourhood, is an ideal place for this.
A retreat can be long or short, depending on your needs. Here at St. Joseph's, we can cater for groups who come to make an Evening Retreat or a Day's Retreat. We can also cater for individuals or small groups (of up to 10 or 11) who wish to make a longer retreat - several days spent in the peace and quiet of our beautiful surroundings.
For large or small groups, we can offer talks on the spiritual life to make your retreat more meaningful - these kind of retreats are sometimes called "preached retreats". Or, for individuals or small groups who wish to make a few days' retreat, we can offer individual guidance tailored to each one's needs - these are sometimes called "individually guided" or "directed" retreats.
For those who desire some more long-term guidance in the spiritual life, St. Joseph's can offer "spiritual direction". Please note that this is not the same thing as "counselling" - it is not designed to deal directly with problems or difficulties in relationships or in human living, but rather specifically offers guidance in one's "prayer-life" or relationship with God.
